Huck had a pretty straight forward idea to free Jim. But Tom is a total drama queen. He sees Huck's idea as too simple and would not make a good story. Tom's plan lets his imagination run wild and therefore makes the escape much harder. The entire time I was reading these chapters I was repeating to myself "Shut up Tom!". All of these unneeded things added to their plan to free Jim was almost unbearable to read after hearing Huck's plan just to get him and get out.

  2. The differences between the boys to free Jim are very obvious. Huck wants to go with the simple, easy plan, while Tom just has to go with this dumb, complicated plan. And, of course, this takes way longer to free Jim than it really should. At this point we can make out that Huck wants to get things done straight to the point. Tom on the other hand has to make things elaborate just so he can get some kind of fame. And what did we learn today kids? Sometimes the easiest solution is the best solution (portals 2 reference).

    1. I agree completely there's that major difference between their ideas. Ones simple and straightforward the other is risky and more dangerous. Tom just has this stupid and not necessary idea of how to free Jim. So far the reader sees how cautious huck has becomes and how he has looked at situations differently. Since the time he left his dad to now.

  3. Huck's idea to free Jim is more straightforward and less troublesome than Tom's ideas. Tom has more of an audacious imagination and prefers to follow all the principles while Huck would prefer to take the easy way out. Jim is scared of Tom's ideas because Jim feels like his ideas were unnecessary to enforce. This part of the novel shows a major difference between these two boys. Huck compares himself to Tom so it helped the reader realize that even Huck knew that they had very different brains. Tom was adventurous while Huck was discreet and took precautions.

  4. Tom of course felt the need to have this sort of expendable plan, much more complicated than Huck's way to free Jim. It was irrelevant to what Huck had in mind, I thought it only made Jim feel uncomfortable with the whole situation hearing Tom out. The different types of intentions coming into the two boy's head's, I thought kind of shows the difference between how much thought for Jim's needs was there. Making Huck the friend with more to offer.

  5. Huck's plan is easy, just sneak him out and have him hide on the canoe, hiding in the day and running in the night. Simple. Tom, on the other hand, thinks it's too simple and plain. He wants to make some elaborate plan with many steps that might even get them killed. It's clear Tom is a little too wild when it comes to a simple event. Huck just wants to get to it and end it as quick as possible.

Huck assumes Tom's identity because Tom's aunt mistakes him for Tom, and he goes along with it so that he can try and rescue Jim.
When Tom appears he pretends to be his own brother, Sid, and starts to complicate the situation with Jim.
Huck's plan for rescuing Jim is simple, Tom's is absurdly complicated.
Huck becomes passive when tom arrives and lets him take charge, he seems to lose any ability to act for himself.
Tom's plan is very cruel because he knows that Jim is really free, yet he pretends he is not just in order to be able to play a game of escpaing prisoners. He lets Jim go on thinking he is still a runaway slave, whereas in fact he is a free man. It is a monstrously cruel thing to do.

  7. Huck wants to free Jim in the easiest possible way. While, Tom lets his imagination get the best of him. All Tom wants is a big story and to make the plan complicated and cruel. Huck just wants to free Jim and get it over with. This shows that Huck has matured a lot and knows that challenging things makes situations a lot harder and Tom is still stuck just trying to have fun.

  8. Huck’s idea to free Jim is simpler than what Tom has in mind. Tom has always based his plans in books or imagination making the escape even harder. While Huck thinks is not really that complicated and tries to make his plan easier. Tom is adventurous, therefore he wants to make the escape an adventure, a game, or a story to tell. All Huck wants is for this to end as quick as possible.

  9. Hucks idea was nice and simple while toms idea is hard and difficult. Tom want to let his imagination and be adventurous in getting Jim. On the other had Huck just want to go and get it done with fast and simple as possible. Huck and jim are to different people huck is matured and tom is adventurous like a kid.

Huck's idea in rescuring Jim is plain and simple. While on the other hand Tom's is rather a harder one meaning an adventure having ecxiting events ocurring trying to free Jim. As the story continues theres a point in which Huck is seen as a character who wants things done the simple way. While Tom decides to take the difficult path full of adventure.

  11. Hucks and Toms ideas of freeing Jim are way different. Hucks plan is to do things nice, easy, fast, and simple. On the other hand Jims idea of more risky, dangerous, and adventurous. Tom wants to have fun and wants "action" while freeing Jim, Tom thinks doing it Hucks way is boring and isn't "heroic" enough.

  12. Tom and Huck's ideas to save Jim were dramatically different in many ways. Huck's idea was more forthright and simple, while Tom's was very abundant and extra challenging to accomplish. It almost seemed as if Tom was up to something that was antagonistic towards Huck and Jim because of how his idea was very complex compared to Huck's. This shows that Tom and Huck are two very different people, Huck being more cautious and manageable, while Tom being more of an outgoing type of person. But being the type of person Tom is isn't always the best, it's better to be safe than sorry.

    1. There were two ideas on how to free Jim. There was one idea held by "the adventurous" Tom, and then there was "simple" Huck. This situation displays a huge difference between Tom and Huck, it shows who has really matured and grown throughout this journey. Huck has matured enough to know that sometimes simple isn't so bad, it's usually the best idea. While on the other hand, Tom is still waiting to mature. He wants this over thetop idea which makes it very difficult and challenging to free Jim.

  13. Huck's idea and Tom's idea were extremely different. Huck's idea was simply and fast, but Tom started to belittle Huck's idea, for Tom thought the idea to simple. Tom immediately comes up with a plan that Huck says "is fifteen times more showy, but will get all of them killed." Tom comes up with many things to do while freeing Jim. One being to cut his leg off to get it out of the chains, or using a rope ladder. These things show what kind of people Huck and Tom are. Huck is simple and cautious. Tom however is outgoing, exaggerative, and likes to take risks.

  14. Huck had wanted a manageable plan to help Jim escape, but Tom Sawyer had very complex ideas of ways to "steal" Jim. Tom wanted the plan to be big and much more outrageous. He thought Huck's "blame' simple" plan was not worth doing if there wasn't any trouble in the mix. Even though Huck gave up and let Tom have his way, he had still tried to convince Tom that his way would be risky and shameful. Huck has grown as a person and has developed a wise mind.

  15. In search for Jim, Huck had paired up with Tom. When they had found him Huck had ideas to fee Jim. Tom had denied all of Hucks ideas and told him that his plans were to simple and easy. They had to conclude what they had to do in order to free Jim. But as they go through toms imaginative plan they run into problems that later had to be changed. In reality Hucks idea would have been more simple and faster to do.

  16. The idea that Huck has to free Jim is very different from Tom. Tom’s idea is to complicated and he tends to over think it. Huck’s idea is the opposite from Toms; his idea is plain and simple. Tom has a big imagination when comes to making a plan and freeing Jim. Jim has a concern towards Tom’s plan because it can affect Jim’s chance of freedom. This point in the novel the reader can see how Huck has grown up and become more mature.

  17. The ideas of Huck and Tom to free Jim are very different. Huck is always thinking on the easiest way to do it, so his idea can work as he wants too. On the other hand Tom likes to do dangerous things and to have adventures ans his idea is way more complicated. They think very differently and Jim is afraid of Tom's idea. At this point of the novel we can see that Huck knows how to solve a problem with the simplest ideas and has grown a lot throughout the book. Tom still doesn't seem to care of the problems he might face he just wants his ideas to be difficult to accomplish and live a journey.

  18. Huck and Tom have diffrent ideas to free Jim. Tom has a big imagination and enjoys excitment. He wants a more challenging way to free Jim, something to remember that coud be writen about in books. Tom wants to do this the harder way, which is the exact opposite of Hucks idea. Huck would rather make this as simple as possible. He wants no complications or obstacles in the way. Huck wants to help Jim out the easiest way they can. At this point the reader is able to understand the characters own personalities and how diffrent each person is from one another.

  19. Between Huck and Tom is both idea of letting Jim free are way different. Huck is idea is to go in a simple plan to help Jim. Tom in other hand wants to make the plan difficult to send Jim free. Huck is scared to follow Tom's plan, because that plan might get them in trouble and won't be able to send Jim free. Huck just wants the easy plan to just get over with. This has made Huck to be mature and knows the right decision.

Throughout the story Huck has come a long way and matured greatly. He has become more dependable and is morally stable. He know right form wrong but he chooses to help his friends first and risk his own life for them. Tom on the other hand is more adventurous and risk-taking. 23. What would you rather choose, simple and fast or complicated and forever. See thats what is different between Hucks plan and Toms. Tom is the very imaginative boy that thinks things should be more like the adventure books that he has read. As Tom increaces the complexity of his plan he increases the amount of time it will take to get Jim out. Tom literally says "It's as simple as tit-tat-toe, three-in-a-row, and as easy as playing hooky. I should hope we can find a way that's a like more COMPLICATED than that..." purposefully putting an emphasis on the word complicated because Tom himself says that he wants the plan to be more complicated. You can really tell by this point in the story how much Huck has grown if you compare him to Tom. Tom is still this childish boy that trys to incorporate fiction stories into his life. Huck on the other hand can see the simplicity of the situtation.

  24. At this point in the novel the reader can see exactly how much Huck has grown compared to Tom Sawyer.Tom still has a childish way of thinking and thats what makes their idea for freeing Jim so different. Even though both plans have pretty much the same outcome, Huck's idea is easy and simple while Tom's is more complicated. He gets ideas from fictional stories and in a way tries to live them. Huck can see that his whole plan is completely unnecessary but of course Tom can't. Tom is just looking for a way to make a simple situation an exciting and complicated adventure, even if he has to make things up along the way.

  25. Huck's idea to steal Jim back was basic, swift, and quiet. He simply wanted to steal the key, get Jim, and float away like they did in the past. Only this time Tim proposed a plan with more style and danger. This shows that Huck is still stuck with his normal plan and will go on with it as long as he can. On the other hand, Tom's plan shows he can think in such a quick and dangerous manner. I think Tom is just looking for something fun and illegal to do.

  26. Huck's and Tom's idea of freeing Jim are very different. Huck's idea of rescuing Jim is fast and simple. On the other hand Toms idea is more dangerous and risky. Even though Tom knows that Jim is technically free he still wants to pretend that Jim is a prisoner. The difference between Huck and Tom's idea is that Huck just wants to rescue his friend and Tom wants to have fun while rescuing him.

  27. It seems that though Tom Sawyer intends to assist Huck in freeing Jim, their ideas are far more different than each others. While Huck plans on a simple and easy way of helping the trapped friend, Tom's idea is way out of the picture. It could even result in killing the three of them. It's as Tom's plan is aiming for an adventure and a glory shot of fame; and Huck's plan is only aimed directly for his friend's freedom.

  28. Huck and Tom have two very different ideas of how they can free Jim. Huck has a very simple plan while on the other hand Jim's is very risk taking. Huck suggests that they just sneak him out and hide him in a cannoe. Tom doesn't like the idea so he insists that they come up with some really big plan that may lead them to no where. They both think very differently.Huck is more about precaution and cares about the result at the end . Tom is the adventurous type so he thinks the plan should come out with some adventure. They booth have different ways of thinking, Huck has matured and just wants everything to come out fine at the end.

  29. Huck and Tom are two completely different people. Huck's plan is logical, he takes what he's given and uses it well. He shoots straightforward to get Jim out which would be the quickest solution. Tom however, wants to live out stories. Tom tries everything and anything to make it hard to get Jim out. Tom reads a lot of adventure books and does everything in his power to make his life like one of those adventure books. Even if the story in the book is unattainable in real life he will do his best to stick to them. Huck is about staying on task and getting things done the easiest way possible. While Tom wants a huge adventure that will bring him glory no matter how risky. Huck and Tom are different in every way and aren't meant to work together. Huck's patience and understanding for his friend Tom's dangerous ideas is how they manage to complete tasks.

  30. Huck and tom plans were different in many ways. Huck wanted to go with an easy and not get in trouble plan. While tom on the other hand wants to go with his always difficult complex plan that will get them in trouble. Tom always wants a challenge when it comes to making his plan for that adventure feeling. Huck plan seem to be more easier to commit then tom and they dont get caught and get in trouble. In other words hucks plan come from logic while tom plan come from something he read just with few minor fixes to the plan.

  31. Huck has a very simple and easy to execute plan on getting Jim free. This shows that Huck is mature and smarter because his plan is just to slip the chains free. Whereas Tom comes up with this crazy, elaborate, and time consuming plan of having a cloth ladder, a pan with writing on it, spiders, mice, and bugs. This plan has too many none essential things that would showing that Tom has not had to grow up and become mature as Huck has. The fact that Tom is going off stories that he has read shows he is still a child and still thinks about fame and glory.

  32. Huck´s plan to free Jim is plain and simple while Tom's isn't. Huck's plan is as simple as getting the chains off of Jim. While Tom's plan is more difficult and complex. 33. Huck has a simple plan just to set Jim free without any complicated schemes while Tom has this extravagant idea to "take/steal" Jim. Huck is simple and collected with ideas that don't involve the story fairy tale like ideas as Tom. Tom is still pretty much a child taking after these wild stories he has read. Huck just wants to remove Jim's shackles and give him freedom as soon as he can.

  34. Huck's plan was straight forward, "get in get out" type of plan where Tom's plan is complicated and ridiculous. Tom tries to make Huck feel like he doesn't know better when he explains his plan but in reality he has no idea what he is doing either. Tom's plan is pointless and makes no sense, all he is doing is wasting time. Time they can be spending getting ahead and back on track to the north. Since Tom reads and has the privileges to go to school he is going through his plan based on a book on the other hand Huck is using common sense to just take off the shackles.

  35. At this point in the novel we can see that Huck is more of a simple minded character than Tom is. Huck wants to do things quick and easy while Tom prefers to do things long and complicated. This is shown by the two characters ideas of how to free Jim. Huck's plan is short and simple while Tom's is more technical. This being said it can be inferred that throughout Huck's "journey" he has become less adventurous and just wants to get things done, while Tom is still the adventure guy who wants to get a story out of it.

  36. In my opinion, I think Tom feels as if he knows what he is doing because he gets to go to school unlike Huck. He feels he's at an advantage and takes the opportunity to show off in a way, using references to books, and coming up with long complicated plans, even though they're completely foolish and nonsense. Huck, on the other hand, has a more swift, less complicated plan to take off the shackles and head back. Tom wanted to create a full on rescue mission while Huck simply wanted to get it over with quickly. They had completely different views on the situation, and Huck's common sense seemed to be the smarter pick.

  37. When comparing Huck's idead of freeing Jim versus Tom's idea, HUcks idea is more straight foward and gets straight to the point as compare to Tom's idea, because his idea is more complex and not well structurely organized. This shows the reader that Huck is now more mentally deveoped and mature.

    ReplyDelete
  38. Huck's idea to set Jim is fairly easy, while Tom's isn't. Tom wants to rescue Jim like the way it happen in all the books he has read. During Jim rescue, Tom and Huck don't agree. Huck's want to save Jim as soon as possible and is more reasonable. Tom's on the other hand may take years and has many unnecessary details. Since Huck knows he can't reason with Tom, he agrees to do it his way but turns out bad, and when Tom realizes it not always like in the books.

  39. Throughout the book, Huck makes comments on how Tom's plans would've had way more style than his and this is proved in these chapters. Huck makes a blunt and straight forward plan that guarantees Jim's escape. But Tom isn't going to have any of that. He thinks Jim should have an "evasion" worthy of Dantes himself. So Huck and Tom 'let on' that it's taken them thirty seven years to get Jim out of his prison. They bring in rats and spiders and have poor Jim tag along with them. After the whole ordeal Jim says he'd never want to be a prisoner. This shows just how straight and narrow Huck is, and Tom's flair for the dramatic. But because Huck would rather appease Tom's antics than go against his friend, they go through all sorts of foolishness.

  40. Both Huck and Jim have really different ideas of freeing Jim. By Huck being matured and knowing what's right and wrong, he wants to free Jim the fastest, easiest, and uncomplicated way. In the other hand, Tom doesn't want this the easy way... he wants this escape to be remembered. In other words Tom wants this to be something big, adventurous, and life risking, while Huck just wants to get it over with. This clearly shows that Huck's maturity level has increased by a lot.

  41. Huck and Tom have way different perspectives on how to let Jim free.In Hucks mind, he seems to want to let Jim free the most simplest and easiest way. While Tom wants to have an adventure while letting Jim free. Tom wants experience the wilder side and the more adrenaline going through his freedom. Huck seems to show the reader how straight and precise. While Tom seems to like the wild and adventurous side of things.

  42. Huck and Toms plans were very different from each other. Huck's plan was more straightforward, simple and easy. Since he has not only matured throughout the book he knows what will work and what wont.

  43. Chapters 34-38, Joshua Messer

The differences between Huck and Tom’s idea to free Jim illustrate the differences in maturity levels between the two characters. On one hand, we have Huck has matured throughout, thinks for himself and rationalizes situations; therefore his plan is easy and rational. On the other hand we have the adventurous boy in Tom Sawyer. His plan is complicated, and quite frankly cruel. Tom fully knows that Jim is already free when he comes up with a game of escape. This shows us that Tom cares more about himself and fantasy-land then Huck. Huck displays care and thought for Jim, unfortunately he allows Tom to take charge. Huck still shows that his is not yet a man, not yet ready to stick up for his beliefs.

  44. Setting Jim free has become a very long process all because of Huck and Toms very different ideas. Tom has these crazy risky ideas that take way to long and Huck finds more simpler faster ways. Tom describes Hucks ideas as regular and has a huge desire for adventure. He chooses the more difficult way to free Jim because he wants to get recognized for his unregular plan. Huck on the other hand strongly disagrees with every choice Tome makes because he knows Tom makes plans as he goes but chooses to do them because he believes that when Tom says he is going to do something he knows he does it.

  45. Huck's idea to free Jim are more carefully thought out then Tom's ideas. Tom has more of a bolder imagination and prefers to follow all the principles, while Huck would prefer taking the easier way out. Jim is scared of Tom's ideas because he feels that Tom's ideas were unnecessary to enforce. This part of the novel shows the major differences between Huck and Tom. Huck compares how both himself and Tom think and comes to realize that their way of thinking is very different. Tom thoughts were adventurous while Huck's were discreet and took precautions.

  46. Huck and Tom's idea to free Jim are very contrasting, just like the characters themselves. Huck wants to take the most uncomplicated, quickest, and most effective way to free his friend. Believing that any further actions are completely unnecessary. On the contrary, Tom Sawyer wants to free Jim in a way that would make them the talk of the town; an intricate, remarkable, and a well thought out plan. This shows the reader that Huck is a very simple boy, wanting to go with a plan that he can rely on and working with things he is familiar with. This also shows the reader that Tom admires the men he reads about and strives to be just like them. He needs attention and a challenge, and is always looking for something more.

  47. The difference between Huck and Toms ideas to free Jim are very different from each others. Like for example, Hucks idea is plain, not thought out that much and also very easy to think about how to set Jim free. But on the other hand, Tom Sawyers idea to free Jim is very well thought out, more complicated and also more complex. By Huck and Toms ideas they both show the reader that Huck has matured throughout the story but still wants to take the easy way out for everything. But by Tom Sawyers idea it shows the reader that he wants to take the extra step and also the extra mile for everything he cares about.

  48. The main difference between Huck's plan to free Jim and Tom's plan is that Huck's plan was functional and practical, while Tom's was more idealistic and was based more about what he read than what needed to be done. Huck wanted to get the job done quickly, while Tom wanted to make a full adventure out of it. Huck is a straight-forward person, while Tom on the other hand is more of a beat around the bush person. Tom will still get the job done, but he wants his plan to be just like a book about a prisoner escaping from jail. More than showing differences in the ideas and personalities of Tom and Huck, their plans show that Huck is the more mature of the two.

Tom on the other hand, is your everyday adventure. he tries to make every simple situation into a grand/elaborate problem. Huck is a simple person who tries to make his life just as simple by solving any/everything that comes at him. To where Tom is a glory seeking Bafoon that will risk anything to get it. 54. There are major differences between Tom and Huck's plans to rescue Jim. Huck's plan is simple yet effective while Tom wants to turn the whole thing into a big adventure. Tom is going off of things he's read in books. Huck seems to be a straight-forward person at this point who wants to get things done as easy and quickly as possible. As for Tom, he has to be so dramatic about everything he does. So out of these two boys, Huck seems to be the more mature one.

  55. Tom and Hucks ideas to free Jim differ in many ways. Hucks plan was very straight forward while Tom's is a little more complicated. Huck wanted to make it really simple and easy and something that can possibly work. Tom's plan is more complicated and looks a little more complicated than it should be and cannot be accomplished as easily as Hucks. This shows that Huck is a very mature person and is still looking for the easy way out while Tom is looking for more of an adventure and a harder way to get Jim out.

  56. Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn are two very different people with extremely different personality's. I believe that is the reason why when they both come up with plans to save Jim they end up being two completely opposite ideas. There plans show a lot in there personalities and there way of thinking. Huck's plan was short, simple to the point, easy and safe for everyone. His plan was to steal the key, sneak Jim out, hide him in the canoe, and hide at day and run at night with Jim. On the other hand Tom had a very wild, dramatic, complicated plan that could of ended up killing all 3 of the boys. Toms plan involved stealing, a lot of hard work and time, animals, inscriptions, journals and it was just a big mess. What this shows about Tom in my opinion is that he is just like a little kid, and he "bites more than he could chew", I feel like he just wants fame and the thrill of the story more than he wants to help free Jim. I also believe that, at the beginning of the story Huck would of been right with Tom thinking the same way he does; but with all of the experiences he has gone through he has learned to do the safest, smartest, and correct thing to do even if its "dull and boring". Huck has matured while Tom still lives for the excitement of the adventure.

  58. After Jim is found, two ideas are presented to get him back to freedom by Tom and Huck. These plans are the polar opposite of each other, just like their personalities. Huck's plan is short, sweet, and to the point, while Tom's is involved, ridiculous, and excruciatingly long. This revels very different personality traits about both of the boys. Although, Huck is a very logical and thoughtful young man, he's not confident making him a "Follower". While, on the other hand, Tom is radical and "adventurous" but he's sure of himself, making him a "Leader". The reader can gather this from the fact that after Huck shares his idea, it is belittled and put to shame by Tom, and when he [Tom] announces his idea, Huck goes along with it even though he realizes it may very well get all three of them killed. "Tom told me what his plan was, and I see in a minute it was worth fifteen of mine for style, and would make Jim just as free a man as mine would, and maybe get us all killed besides."

  60. Huck and Tom have different complicated plans for the situation with Jim.Huck's plan for rescuing Jim is simple. Toms plan is slightly complicated for Jim. Tom becomes passive when tom arrives and lets him take charge, he seems to lose any ability to act for himself. Tom's plan is very cruel because he knows that Jim is really free, yet he pretends he is not just in order to be able to play a game of escpaing prisoners. He lets Jim go on thinking that he is is still a runaway slave. It is a very cruel thing that he does to Jim. Huck actually cares about Jim and all Tom cares about is having fun at Jims expence.

  61. The difference between Tom and Huck is that Huck through out the book has grown. As he learned on his own what was better for himself and others. This has helped him make more simple, fast and wise decisions. Huck has a plan that is plain and simple and will get Jim out for sure. The problem is that Tom wants to do it his way. Huck tells him his plan and Tom does not want to fallow Hucks idea. Tom is making it more complicated and more time consuming plan. This shows the reader the difference between both of them.

Huck would've liked to free Jim easily and quickly, but Tom decided to over think things and let his imagination roam wild making things way harder than it should have been. Throughout these chapters it shows how different these character can be in different situations.

  67. Huck’s and Tom’s plans are very different in letting Jim become free. Huck pushes for a simple plan while Tom pushes for a more drawn out and complicated plan that involves too much intricacies. Tom chooses adventures over true feelings. His selfishness shines throughout these chapters because he cares for his outcome rather than Jims. Huck has a more realistic and ideal point of view and tries to do what’s for others. In my eyes Huck is the matured one although Tom is the same age. Tom’s imagination just gets the best of him and you can see difference in priorities between the two. Huck’s being Jims freedom as easy as possible and Tom’s being a big story and a new found fame.

At this point of the novel it shows the difference maturity of Huck and Tom, while Huck has matured more through out the story. As Tom is letting his ego get in his way ,in the mean while, Huck just wants to do the right thing the right way.

Despite Huck’s apprehensions about the whole plan, he will continue with Tom’s rather complex plan to free his friend. We can conclude that Huck’s character displays determination and simplicity whereas Tom’s character illustrates an adventurous and a rather crazy and thrill-seeking person, who, I believe is in it for the ride.

  76. Huck and Toms ideas to free Jim were very different from each others. Huck’s ideas was simply and straight to the point while Toms idea, on the other hand, was far more complicated and unnecessary. For example when Huck describes his way of getting Jim out Tom says “What's the good of a plan that ain't no more trouble than that? It's as mild as goose-milk. Why, Huck, it wouldn't make no more talk than breaking into a soap factory." Tom wants an adventure and for it to be remembered. Huck wants to get it over with while Tom wants to be life risking. This shows that Hucks maturity level has raised quite a lot from the last chapters and is becoming more responsible.

  77. Huck's opinion and Tom's opinion both differ in the sense that Huck feels a need to have a less complicated plan. Tom, being himself, feels that he has to come up with some intricate plan that plays to his imaginative adventures. Huck actually cares for the well being of Jim whereas Tom only cares about preserving his reputation of having bigger than life ideas. Huck puts emotion and logic behind his plans of action, while Tom acts on impulse. Jim sees no need to follow an over-exaggerated plan that may not succeed in the end anyways.

At first, Huck thinks it would be great to have a brain like Tom's but Huck then comes to terms that, 'Sure Tom's ideas can work just as well, but his would get us all killed.' At this point by now, I think Huck begins to distinguish his own self as the person he feels better being, instead of being too adventurous or too unfair. Huck and Tom are both similar in terms of finding ways to survive, but with Tom he wants this sort of thrill; while Huck wants things to go smoothly and quickly. As the end draws nearer, Huck is beginning to find his own self instead of trying to be someone else.

This plan included digging out Jim from his "imprisonment". At this point in the novel, the reader can decipher what kind of person each character is. Huckleberry Finn has grown into a man of simplicity, and is more careful with his decisions. Tom Sawyer is still an adventurous spirit, and wants to live a radical life and be remembered. Lastly, Jim is kind-hearted towards Huck and is still on his journey for freedom.

Huck's maturity and care for others really shows at this point because he just wants his friend back and wants to make it as easy as possible to ensure the safety of them all. Tom's plan is kinda risky and may take a while but Huck can't really win by arguing with Tom so he decides to go with his plan but in the end it turns out bad.

  129. These chapters and their different ideas really show how each character thinks, and the differences in what they believe in. Tom has a very complicate and complex way of seeing thins as to where husck as a very simplistic way of thinking. Suck is more realistic and less selfish than Tom. Huck has Jim in mind with the plan more than himself un like Tom.

  130. The end of the novel was unexpected. Throughout the book we see Huck mature, be a great friend and learn lessons.
I did however enjoy knowing that Huck's father was dead and Jim was free. I would have preferred the ending to be both Jim and Huck to stay together and get into more trouble else where.

  131. Huck is genuinely jims friend he truly wants him free and does what he can to save him, but tom being who he is ( ever the adventurer ) likes to add flair to his master escape plan because obviously, simple things never work out quite as simply as you plan.
It was likely that hucks simpler plan would have worked and it showes hucks character in it as well, do it now live for the now, get it done.
Tom is an ignorant genius. He has a plan it's incrediball and amazing and elaborate and unessisary. Because that makes the best story, and thats who tom is.

  132. Huck an Tom both are genuinely right about each of their own plan to free Jim but but differ vastly, Tom is an adventurer and thus wants to execute his plan "Creatively" by adding useless stuff and don't even need, the outcome of Toms plan takes them a whole lot longer to free Jim than they should've had. Huckle on the contrary is pretty straightfoward and could of taken alot less time to free Jim than Toms plans

  133. Both Huck and Jim have really different ideas of freeing Jim. By Huck being matured and knowing whats right and wrong , he wants to free Jim fast and easy. In the other hand , Tom doesnt want the easy way he wants everyone to remember this escape. In other words Tom wants thisto be something big and life risking while Huck just wants to get it over with. This chapter shows Huck's maturity level.

  134. During these chapters, you are able to see two very different people. One wants to go out with style, while the other would like a simple escape. Huck pushes for a plan that is sure to get the job done in freeing Jim, safely; but Tom becomes selfish. Tom wants to involve complications and obstacles that could get them caught. Huck looks past the adventures and cares for the outcome for Jim’s sake, and Tom only wants a new ending to his very own adventure. This all shows that Huck has matured greatly, although the both of them are the same age, Tom lacks caring for anyone but himself.

  135. Huck plan to free Jim is very easy going and less difficult for Jim. At this point in the story Huck has matured so much and has realized that Tom just wants everything to sound so adventurous and brilliant and could never settle for simple. Huck's plan will simply complete the long task and journey Jim wanted to accomplish which was freedom. While Tom on the other hand just wants to be difficult and is becoming another obstacle that Huck has to deal with while Jim awaits his fate. Tom just can't help to see the big picture of just letting this one time let something be simple and just get it done.

  136. Hucks plan to free Jim was more easy and straight forward than Toms plans. Tom has a wild imagination of all possibilities and can be over exagurative about these plans. Jim is more listening to Huck than to Tom, mainly because Toms plan to free him was way complicated. Huck's plan seems less risky and less time consuming or risk taking than Toms. Also Hucks seems simpler, quicker, and the most likely not to get them caught.

    1. The difference between Tom plan and Huck's plan is more complicated and unessacary. Huck has a easy way for Jim's escape, while Tom's plan is just more of a time consuming and complicated. At this point of the novel, it shows that Huck is more intelligent and knows what to do but Tom on the other hand is somewhat dramatic.

  137. The differences between the boys to free Jim are very straight forward. Huck wants to go with the simple, easy plan, and quik way, while Tom just has to go with this more complex plan. And, of course, this takes way longer to free Jim than it really should have. At this point we can make out that Huck wants to get things done straight to the point. Tom has to make things complicated and longer just so he can get some kind of recognition or something. Sometimes the easiest solution is the best solution. why go with the more complex way, when you could do it in 1-2-3!

  138. Huck's idea to free Jim is more straightforward and less troublesome than Tom's ideas.Tom of course felt the need to have this sort of expendable plan, much more complicated than Huck's way to free Jim. It almost seemed as if Tom was up to something that was antagonistic towards Huck and Jim because of how his idea was very complex compared to Huck's. Tom was just looking for some excitement he is searching for adventure that's the reason why he wanted to do the complicated plan.

  139. Huck is trying to free Jim with plans he had made and he knows it would work really well. Tom wants him to do something a lot more complicated than his simple plan. He wants Huck to struggle and he wants to watch. Huck goes by his plan because of the way he changed his thinking. Into listening what he knows is right rather than wrong.

  140. Huck has a more calm/easier plan which is hide in the day and run at night. Tom is making it more difficult than it has to be. They have two very different plans. Their points of view and the escape plan are very conflictive. But why do something the difficult way when there's a easy way out of it. Huck's idea is more clear.

  141. Huck's plans are simple, "Just sneak him out and let him hide in the canoe". While Tom's idea is more hard and more "difficult to follow" as he based most of his plans on books and in his imagination. Huck tries to make everything easier and faster to end, But Tom is trying to be the "Adventurous" type of person in this situation.

  143. Though Tom is passionate, his attitude toward freeing Jim is very immature in comparison to Huck's, who is warier of the severity of the situation; Tom can't seem to separate fantasy with reality. "Get up my canoe to-morrow night, and fetch my raft over from the island...Steal the key out of the old man's britches, after he goes to bed, and shove off...with Jim, hiding daytimes and running nights." Though Huck's plan is reasonable and efficient Tom shoots it down for lacking the grandeur of the great escapes he associates with the "thieves, prisoners, and cowboys" he's read about, saying,"it's too blame' simple." Tom is more interested in romanticizing the details than insuring Jim escapes safely and efficiently.

  144. after reading this chapter I couldn't stand to read about tom and his plan. hucks plan is simple makes sense and to the point, while toms plan on the other hand was the complete opposite, it was complicated and it made it harder on everyone else when it didn't have to be.
